Gene Youngblood, Expanded Cinema

Pg. 181

The computer amplifies man's intelligence in about the same ratio that the telescope extends his vision. The man/computer symbiosis is developed to the point where the machine instructs its user and indicates possibilities for closer interaction. One needn't read the manual but may consult the machine directly with the order, "I want to do something, instruct me." It is not even necessary to be in the presence of the computer to do this. One can carry out one's work thousands of miles away, linked to the computer through remote viewing and operating consoles.
