What is 'video mapping'?

Video Projection Mapping is an exciting new projection technique that can turn almost any surface into a dynamic video display. Specialized software is used to warp and mask the projected image to make it fit perfectly on irregularly shaped screens. When done right, the end result is a dynamic projection installation that transcends ordinary video projection.
For just the past couple of years - the development and popularity of video mapping technology has advanced quickly, making new things possible for the VJ.
Michael Allen uses software (Mad Mapper / Modul8) with custom aluminum and metal pipes and connectors to create mapped installations.
Stretched fabric is then projected onto, creating an effect that is specific to this time in the history of visual music...
