And he thought back even further...

He thought of his birth.  He saw a little boy...

He saw the four corners of the Universe.

He saw a child, with beams of light shining from it's eyesockets...

With beams that shone like spotlights that swept over the skyline of the Galaxy.

He saw himself before he was born.

He saw a stone shaped like an egg, with the wind blowing life into it...

He watched this stone egg become a fetus - and then the fetus became him.

Again he saw the child with eyes of light...

A blinding light that caught the God's off-guard...

He saw himself reading...  And eating...

And drinking...

He saw himself being bored...

He saw himself painting...

He saw himself doing drugs.

When he wasn't reading or painting - he was with his friends, getting high.

Small town.

Dirt weed, Mad Dog, and Red Dragon...

He loved to think of the brain.  Nolan Alexander was a very smart boy.  His obsession with the workings of the mind consumed his time and mind.

It was unnatural for a boy of 16.

While others his age were playing videogames and watching cartoons, Nolan was alone in his room studying psychiatric journals that he'd picked up from the local library.

His thirst for this knowledge could not be quenched...

He stayed in his room for hours on end, with nobody there to bother or criticize him...

He learned about neural networks...

He learned about synaptic clefts...

He learned about the nervous system, and the senses, sucking up every bit of information he could...

He didn't care about school - because this compulsive studying of the human mind was all-consuming...

He saw himself skipping school.

He saw himself getting high.

He saw himself doing research...

Nobody knew what he was up to when he was all alone in his room...
